From mentorship to career milestones, Jennifer Ramnarine shares how volunteering with IPAC-NCR can transform your journey in public service.
Volunteering with IPAC-NCR has been an incredibly transformative experience for me. When I first moved to Ottawa as a 17-year-old undergraduate student, eager to begin my career in public service but unsure of how to navigate the path, IPAC-NCR became a guiding light. At my very first event, I met a mentor who would go on to play a pivotal role in my journey, helping to open doors and support my professional growth.

Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of working across all three levels of government in various departments, gaining invaluable experience and insights. Now, as I prepare to pursue graduate studies in public policy, I can confidently say that I owe much of my success to the incredible community of like-minded professionals I’ve found through IPAC-NCR. Their support, motivation, and friendship have been instrumental in shaping me into the young professional I am today.

For anyone considering getting involved with IPAC-NCR, my advice is to attend an event and put yourself out there. The opportunities, connections, and growth you’ll experience are truly life-changing. You won’t regret it!
