IPAC NCR Holiday Gathering

IPAC NCR

Dec 11, 2024

On December 11, 2024, the National Capital Region chapter of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC-NCR) hosted its Annual Holiday Celebration.

The evening began with opening remarks from Chair, Blair Jones, who reflected on IPAC 2024 achievements. She highlighted IPAC’s commitment to advancing public administration through professional development, fostering collaboration between academia and government, and facilitating meaningful discussions on pressing public sector issues. Blair also emphasized the benefits of IPAC membership, including leadership opportunities, professional connections, and the chance to drive positive change in the public policy arena.

Special guest speaker Michael Vandergrift, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources Canada’s remarks encouraged attendees to reflect on key challenges and opportunities facing Canada in 2025. He posed thought-provoking questions about economic competitiveness, Canada’s global positioning, climate change, affordability, quality of life, and the implications of artificial intelligence and misinformation. Michael underscored the connection between these issues, urging public servants to engage in communities like IPAC to share best practices and tackle complex policy challenges collaboratively. Michael concluded by emphasizing the need for resilience and expertise in the public service as Canada navigates a transformative year ahead.

The celebration was a spectacular end to a successful year for IPAC-NCR, offering attendees an engaging evening of reflection and connection. The event showcased the value of joining the IPAC community and the vital role of public service professionals in shaping Canada’s future. We look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
